A unique sculpture can be seen in the lobby of Bay College's Heirman Center.

The Black Crane was created by Taichiro Ishii, master coppersmith, while working at the Japanese Gardens at the Frederick Meijer’s Gardens, Grand Rapids.

This sculpture was presented at ArtPrize 2014 at DeVos Place and was gifted to the Bonifas Arts Center by David Rettig, an Escanaba native, Horticulturalist from the Japanese Gardens.

It is on loan to Bay College from the permanent collection of Bonifas Arts Center.

Thanks to Escanaba Moving Systems for the safe handling and transportation of The Black Crane.
