Blues for Cause and Bonifas Arts Center are bringing a well-know guitarist to Escanaba this weekend. Kraig Kenning of Chicago will perform at the Bonifas Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Wendy Pepin with Blues for a Cause says Kenning incorporates are variety of styles into his music.

"It's best decribed as Americana, contemporary folk blues, roots rock, fingerstyle, whatever. He's well-known nationally for his slide guitar playing and, in fact, won the 2010 national slide guitar championship for the U.S., Pepin said.

This is the first time Pepin has held a concert at the Bonifas. She says it's an opportunity to collaborate on bringing more live shows to the area.

"They have a group of people that follow them , I have a group of people who follow my events an the idea was, we have some crossover but let's try and put it together," Pepin said.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Bonifas. Tickets are available at the Bonifas, online at bonifasarts.org or at the door.

The interview is conducted by Craig Woerpel, News Director at 680 WDBC-AM and 104.7 WYKX-FM
