Yoga provides a great way to strengthen and tone muscles, build strength and increase flexibility. Studies by the National Institute of Health have proven the effectiveness of yoga for mental alertness, stress relief and increased immune system function.
Students will learn how to synchronize breath with standing postures and increase the benefits of their workout. Ashtanga yoga uses the same sequence each time so improvements are easy to see. With this repetition, the Ashtanga practice itself becomes meditative.
Each class begins with an optional 5-10 min. meditation and then moves into standing postures and finishes with a relaxation posture. Students should bring own mat and block.
