To create a piece of abstract art, one needs to understand the concepts of perspective, form, value, lighting, anatomy, color theory and composition. This course focuses on composition, but also touches on color and form. Professional artist Spencer Epps will guide you through eight sessions. Produce a simple work of art in each session as an exercise and then combine your skills to produce your own abstract masterpiece!
Session I: Introduction to Composition.

Session III: Elements of Art Part 1: Line & Shape
Session IV: Elements of Art Part 2: Color
Session V: Elements of Art Part 3: Form & Space
Session VI: Elements of Art Part 4: Texture
Session VII: Consolidation of Principles of Composition
Session VIII: Composition Fundamentals Capstone CREVO (Creation/Evocation)
Experience: Demonstration of acquired composition skills— Students will be challenged to choose only three artistic elements to create a compositionally sublime work of art in an allotted two hour period. Works will be judged by instructor with prizes awarded for best demonstration of fundamentals of composition.
