The perennial favorite series, “What’s Cooking”, is BACK! The series of cooking demonstrations
are designed to bring out your artistry in the kitchen. Each session includes step-by-step demonstrations in the kitchen and delectable samples in the gallery. Viewers leave with a list of tips and recipes in hand and a smile on their faces. A questions & answers period will follow demonstrations.

April 7 – Spring cleaning and awakening foods. Spring is a time to reboot our bodies and reset them with fresh nutrients after the hearty and heavy meals of cold months. Whether you have first greens in your garden, or they come from the market, making them into something not just healthy but delicious is a worthy challenge. Ashley Tussing, with Sunflower Meals, will showcase the in-season Kale in the soup, including a few different types of kale they grow, (Lacinato, Red Ursa, Scarlet, and White Russian) as different types of kale work better for different dishes and should be cooked slightly differently. Learn to make and then try different types of soup: a creamy kale soup and a hearty veggie soup. Soups will be served with a homemade bread and of course, kale chips! All soups will be made with homemade vegetable broth. Many ingredients come from the Sunflower Meals farm: carrots, radish, early spring greens, etc. Don’t miss this delicious and good for your class!
March 3 – THIS CLASS IS FULL and is closed to walk-ins— Greek pastry (Baklava) with Christina Economopulos – Back by popular demand, Greek chef Christina Economopulos will teach you how to make Baklava, the traditional Greek pastry made with ground nuts and layers of phyllo dough, drizzled with a spiced honey syrup. Live too far from the nearest Greek restaurant and bakery? This class, taught by an authentic Greek cook who grew up helping in her family’s Greek restaurant, is all you need to make the BEST baklava at home! Baklava is easier to make than most people think, and Christina will have just a few tips that make all the difference. A wonderful addition to holiday dessert spreads or something extra-special for any other time of the year!
February 4 – THIS CLASS PAST Make Macarons for your Valentine with Lisette La Fave – Chocolate and Strawberry cheesecake macaroons. Even if you never set a foot in Europe, you probably tried (or at least heard of) a macaron! This delicate and beautiful French cookie disappears in a second, but is pretty tricky to prepare. Our youngest pastry Chef to date, Lisette LaFave, will take you through meticulous processes to craft your perfect macaroons in two crowd pleasing Valentine flavors (chocolate and strawberry). Delight your Valentine with those exquisite little confections!
