INSTRUCTOR: Al Hansen
DATES: October 4 & 18
Join local potter and retired Bay College instructor, Al Hansen in the pottery studio for a session of hand building and wheel throwing and a second session of glazing and firing raku pottery. Raku is a traditional form of Japanese pottery that has historically used in the Japanese tea ceremony. This is a low-fire, reduction process that involves handling red-hot clay pieces and combustible material. The result is an exciting firing process and flashes of beautiful metallic glazeware. Hansen leads you in both the glazing and firing process. Note: Raku is not food or dishwasher safe. The second session is pot luck, so bring a dish to pass.
