Create exciting watercolor paintings using traditional watercolor pigment and Japanese masa paper. This workshop will show you how to collage the masa paper over the watercolor paper to create incredible texture and new dimension by painting directly on the oriental paper. Each day will begin with a short lecture and a demonstration. Individual attention will be emphasized. Come prepared to explore and enjoy this expanding approach to watercolor painting.
SUPPLY LIST
• Basic watercolor pigments (bring your favorites or if you are just beginning purchase a moderately priced basic set)
• 140lb cold pressed Arches watercolor paper (individual sheets – 22 x 30)
• Japanese masa paper (unwaxed) – several sheets *
• Round and flat watercolor brushes
• Water containers
• #2 pencils; kneaded eraser
• Gatorboard or gatorfoam (1/2 inch thick) board on which to place your paper when you paint. BOARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE FROM THE INSTRUCTOR
• Stapler and staples to attach the paper to the gatorboard
• Painting rag and paper towels
• Matt medium or Elmer’s school glue
• Sponge brush 1” wide or larger to apply the adhesive to the paper
• Several reference photos that excite you
