Kids can create their own body products at a new Bonifas Arts Center 4-H SPIN Club class, starting Feb. 2, and enjoy getting messy at paper mache classes starting Feb. 28.

The "Homemade Body Products" classes (for ages 9-15), covering creations like body butters, lotions, soaps, scrubs, lip balm, and bath salts, run Thursdays and Fridays, Feb. 2-3 and 16-17 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $20.

Students will “learn by doing,” exploring the hands-on science of mixing, measuring, melting, and more, said Dave Radloff, instructor and 4-H extension educator. Kids also will learn how they can sell their creations, he said.

“Fun with Paper Mache,” for kids ages 3 to 15, will run Tuesdays, Feb. 28 and March 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $20.

First, students will create, paint, and decorate an ornamental mask; then, they will choose the rest of their creations, said Radloff, perhaps animals, birds, aliens, or unicorns, and plan how to construct them. Children age 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
