Kids explore the art of four masters at summer Studio Safari

Kids are journeying into the worlds of four vastly different artists, learning about them and trying their techniques, during “Studio Safari” drawing classes focused on Bridgett Riley, Raphael, Paul Cezanne, and Edgar Degas Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21, and 28, at the Bonifas Arts Center.

They will explore one artist per class, using different techniques to create four unique works, optical art inspired by Riley, gridding inspired by Raphael, still-life inspired by Cezanne, and human-figure work inspired by Degas, using markers, pencils, and oil pastels, said Eddie Moritz, instructor.

As kids use these artists’ methods, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of each artist, said Moritz. “It embeds that artist into them,” she said, as will putting their life and work into historical perspective.

Students can sign up for classes running from 10:30 a.m.-noon or 12:30-2 p.m.
