This summer, area students (entering grades 1-12) again can become a part of a Missoula Children’s Theatre musical production and join free theater workshops.

This year, students can audition to become a part of a science-fiction adaptation of “Gulliver’s Travels.” Approximately 50-60 roles are available, and students also can get involved behind the scenes as assistant directors.

Auditions will begin June 12 at 10 a.m. in the Bonifas Arts Center theater, with the shows scheduled for June 17 at 3 and 6 p.m. All students are encouraged to audition, no previous theater experience is needed, and no advance preparation is necessary.

This year’s free Missoula workshops, to run from 3:30-4:30 p.m., will explore acting June 13, makeup June 14, and improv June 15.

These opportunities are sponsored in part by Players de Noc, Classic Auto Collision, Elmer’s County Market, and UPPCO.

Tryouts were held Monday morning for the Missoula Children's Theatre production "Rapunzel" at the Bonifas Art Center Theater. Kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade answered questions, sang and performed lines as the lineup was chosen for this year's production.

The kids will practice each day this week before holding two performances on Saturday. Performances will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
