The natural light of warmer seasons will be displayed during the Out of the Studio en Plein Air exhibit at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center Jan. 7 through Feb. 18.
For three years, the Plein Air Painters of the Upper Peninsula, inspired by the plein air tradition of painting outside “in the open air” to capture the effects of natural light, have traveled to sites across the U.P. and northern Wisconsin.
“(We) encounter wildlife and moments of natural beauty never before seen and never to be seen again,” said featured artist Gail Stanek. “We are able to see color and value that no photo can show.”
Five artists’ work will be showcased (watercolors, oils, and pastels). Gallery viewing is open to public at no charge. The BAC will host a “Meet the Artist” reception at 7 p.m. Jan. 14.
