Although in-progress construction of the Bonifas Arts Center Theater’s new fly system is on-schedule for completion Aug. 1, the Bonifas and Players de Noc still are working to raise significant funds for the project, said Sue Roll, Bonifas business director.

The Bonifas and Players must match a $27,594 grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs, and so far they have received about $10,000 for the project, said Roll, while the construction, originally estimated to cost $83,000, has cost $15,000 more.

“We have a long way to go,” said Roll. “Any donation, however small, is welcome.”

Those wanting to give can mail donations, marked for the fly system, to the Bonias, 700 First Avenue South, Escanaba, MI, 49829, or drop them at the Bonifas.
